Entry was opened today for HunGarian Baja, the one and only cross-country rally World Cup race in Hungary that has several smaller or bigger novelties for fans and competitors as well. However, some of them will remain unseen in this year’s edition, since we would like to test them in order to be able to organise the biggest and the most special Hungarian World Cup race ever celebrating the 15th anniversary in 2018.
Veszprém is my home, the Queens’ city and during the time of HunGarian Baja it will function as your home either, because all of you are warmly welcomed. The city authorities provide us with all their help for organising the World Cup race at the highest possible level.
The race headquarter will operate from Wednesday to Sunday at a venue well-tried last year at the airport in Szentkirályszabadja, the parc fermé for starting preparation on Friday will be built up at Music School in Veszprém and at theatre garden, while the press conference and the drivers’ briefing will be held at the building of Hangvilla before the prologue starting at 5pm at Zero point.
The official starting ceremony of this year’s race will take place again in the evening in the busiest street of the city and will be accompanied by spectacular show as well.
On Saturday and Sunday all eyes will be focus on the shooting range, for a reason, since 430 km from the 500-km selective stages will be completed there.
It can also be considered as a significant change that we pay extra attention for the new generation regarding cars and bikes as well. We have met open-minded and thoughtful people in the Hungarian Motorsport Association, who have not only spoken about, but have proposed to do for sport, for the Hungarian World Cup race.
We have founded an international Side by Side Buggy Cup that warmly welcomes the registered cars of this type with discounted entry fee and reduced stages.
The base of another initiative can also be thanked for president Henrik Hermann, namely this year we join XL Enduro series for the first time, in which enthusiastic amateurs compete against the bikes of bigger capacity than used at World Cup. According to the preliminary surveys these two new series may attract at least 50 new machines and I truly believe that we can produce new values.
The official finish and prize giving ceremonies will be organised at the shooting range on Sunday afternoon such as last year. Since the prizes of the HunGarian Baja delivered by our exclusive official partner called Herend Porcelain Manufactory, the winners will be presented special and unique trophies.
