After breakfast we got a taxi keen to explore the Yas Marina Circuit and to see how the car and all of our equipment had faired on its container journey. The weather was sticky and the skies grey but the temperature was already 37 Celsius! Unfortunately the taxi driver had no real clue of how to get us to the service park but after a "little sight seeing” we arrived at the service and thankfully found the container was undamaged. We are next to Vasilijev who’s team helped us open the container and free the car. Thanks guys!!!! We set about reorganising the whole container to make things a little more user friendly for the race and undo some small damage caused by the sea journey.
Feeling now better prepared for our first World Cup race of 2016 we wanted to wind down for the rest of the day to get us ready for tomorrows administartive and technical duties. In Yas Plaza we set about trying to find a padlock for the container which was easier said than done but in the end a bike lock was found which would do the job. We than had lunch in the Roller Coater Restaurant.
Back to service to close up shop where we bumped into Nasser while they offloaded his new South African Toyota next to us..
Then back to the hotel pool for some well deserved r&r. The team are now in the right mindset and fully rested looking forward to tomorrow ;-)
